Bollywood is the Name of the Indian Film Industry
Bollywood is based in Mumbai, Maharastra State of India. Bollywood is an industry making movies mainly in Hindi. More than 6 Million people work in Bollywood Industry in various roles.
One of the first film productions from Mumbai was called Bombay Talkies. The name, Bollywood is derived from "Hollywood". Many including Amitabh Bachchan think that the name of Bollywood is not correct. Actor Salman Khan has recently (Feb 2011) suggested that Mumbai's Hindi film industry be called HiFi (for Hindi film industry), instead of "Bollywood".
Films in other language like Tamil, Telugu, Malayalam and Bengali are also made in India.
Today Bollywood makes the largest number of films in the world. Bollywood films are watched not only by Indians, but are also popular in the Indian subcontinent, Southeast Asia, Middle East, Africa and other parts of the world.
