Amitabh Bachchan (Height 6ft 3in, 1.88m) is one of the top most actors in Indian Bollywood Industry. He is the son of father Harivansh Rai Bachchan and Hindi and mother Teji Bachchan. Amitabh Bachchan married actress Jaya Bhaduri in 1973. They heave one daughter, Sweta and one son, Abhishek Bachchan. Aishwarya Rai is the daughter-in-law (Abhishek's wife).

Amitabh Bachchan has a multi-faceted personality. Besides films, he enetred briefly into India's Parliamant. He hosted India's most popular TV serial, "Kaun Banega karorpati".

He has won several other awards including Lifetime Achievement Awards, IFA Awards, Zee Cine Awards, Stardust Awards, Star Screen Awards, Sansui Awards, Apsara Awards, etc.

He made a record of 28 nominations for Filmfare Best Actor and 9 nominations for Filmfare Best Supporting Actor.

Besides awards for his films, he has won several other awards. He was awarded "Padma Bhushan", "Padma Shri", "Yash Bharati Samman", "Kishore Kumar award", Amitabh bachchan was conferred an honorary Doctorate by Delhi University and the Jhansi University.

Amitabh Bachchan was named the "Greatest Star of the Millennium" by BBC in 1999 online poll, defeating many Hollywood stars such as Marlon Brando, Alec Guinness, Sir Laurence Olivier and Charlie Chaplin. He has the honor of having a first living Asian statue at London's prestigious Madame Tussauds wax museum.

Amitabh received the 'Visit London Special Award for Outstanding Achievement' which was presented to him by London Mayor Ken Livingstone in Mumbai in Nov 2007..
