Amrita Rao (Date of birth 7 June, 1981) was born in a Chitrapur Saraswat Brahmin family in Mumbai. She speaks Hindi, English and Marathi.

Amrita's first film was Ab Ke Baras (2002). She was nominated for the Best Female Debut category for Filmfare for her next film Ishq Vishk (2003). her oher successful films include Masti (2004), Main Hoon Na (2004) with ,a href="/actors/shahrukh.html">Shahrukh Khanand Vivaah (2006) with Shahid Kapoor. Vivah was a big hit movie. She is a modern Catholic girl in "My Name is Anthony Gonsalves". She also acted in a Telugu hit film Athidhi.
