Shilpa Shetty Biography

Shilpa Shetty (birthday, date of birth born 8 June 1975; height ) is the daughter of Mr Surendra Shetty and Mrs. Sunanda Shetty, manufacturers in the pharmaceutical industry. She was born in Mangalore. She received her education at St. Anthony Girls High School, Chembu and Podar College. She played baseball in school and is a black belt holder in Karate. Shamita Shetty, a Bollywood film actress is her younger sister.

Shilpa can speak various languages including Hindi, English, Kannada, Telugu, Tamil, Marathi, Gujarati, Urdu and French. Her first film was Baazigar (1993) with Shahrukh Khan and Kajol.

Shilpa has recently (mid 2008) released a yoga DVD. She was always an active kid. She attended Yoga classes when she was in school. She also took professional personal training from Shri Shiv Kumar Mishra which helped her with immense strength and flexibility.

During school days Shilpa Shetty learnt Indian classical dance, the Bharat Natyam.

Shilpa has recently released her perfume brand ''S2'', that has has acquired the number three position in the UK Fragrance charts in less than two weeks of its launch. The perfume, created by the French perfumer, Robertet, has the strong aroma of jasmine and citrus.

It has been reported that Shilpa has received an invitation to act in James Bond movie as the "Bond Girl" girl. She has yet to accept the invitation. It is a great honor to her. If she accepts the offer, then she will be 23rd Bond girl. It may be noted that the current Bond is a Britisher and Shetty has a huge following in UK, so she is perfect to play teh role of Bond girl.

1. Rajeev Gandhi Award given by Manmohan Singh, Prime Minister of India, 2007.
2. Shilpa is the winner of the British Celebrity Big Brother (28 January 2007).
3. Shetty was invited in February 2007 to a reception at the House of Commons by Keith Vaz, MP where British Prime Minister Tony Blair was also present.
4. In March 2007, Shilpa Shetty was invited to meet with Queen Elizabeth II at Marlborough House in London.
5. Honorary Degree of Doctor of Arts by De Montfort University in Leicester, UK, 2007
6. Silver Star Award for her outstanding contribution to humanitarian causes, 2007
7. Bollywood Movie Award Best Supporting Actress for Pardesi Babu, 1998
