Om Shanti Om is Farah Khan’s re-birth saga on the line of 70s movie Karz. The story-line and twists in the tale keeps the past creeping into the present. The first half of the movie runs in 70s, while the second half is anchored in the present, showing Sharukh Khan’s six packs and short-skirted Deepika Padukone.
The first half of the film is very funny, showing a bit of Karz, Mother India, Karan Arjun and many old classics of 70s.
Om Prakash Makhija (Sharukh Khan) is a junior artist in Bollywood, has a love story with the reigning diva, Shantipriya (Deepika). Shanti loves the mean producer (Arjun Rampal) who has dreams of moving to Hollywood. Om waits for his rebirth to find a happy ending to his story with Sandy who looks like Shantipriya. Is real or a bhoot revenge story? Watch the movie.
Shahrukh Khan is in both the halves of the story, who manages to add life to the tardy second half too. In his second birth, he is the cool dude with the low waist jeans and the six pack abs.
Deepika has shown her talent despite the presence of Shahrukh. She plays two different roles with commendable finesse, showing her dignity, grace and poise as a '70s diva and as the spunky girl in the second half of the movie.
This is a movie for fun. Although there is no logic in the story, but you will definitely enjoy each minute of the movie. It is a must watch entertaining movie.
