The Cinema Industry of Punjab is the the Punjabi language film industry in Punjab, first started in Pakistan before partition. K.D. Mehra made the first Punjabi film Sheila, which was a super hit film. He then made his second film Heer Sial, which was also very successful.

After the success of religious film Nanak Naam Jahaz Hai in 1969, a large number of Punjabi movies started releasing every year. Some Punjabi films ave done better than big budget Bollywood films at UK box office.

The Punjabi movies who won the awards are Satluj De Kande (1964), Nanak Naam Jahaaz Hai (1969), Chann Pardesi (1980), Marhi Da Deeva (1989), Kachehari (1994), Main Maa Punjab Di (1998), Shaheed-E-Mohabbat (1999), Shaheed Udham Singh (2000) and Des Hoya Pardes (2005).
