Indian Idol is a popular singing talent contest to discover the best young singer in India. The show is based on the UK Pop Idol format. In India it is telecast live by Sony TV and is co-produced with FremantleMedia of the German media corporation Bertelsmann.
The Indian Idol 4 is an Indian reality show telecast on Sony TV, and is a sequal to Indian Idol 3. The winners of Indian Idol 1 was Abhijeet Sawant, Indian Idol 2 was Sandeep Acharya and the Indian Idol 3 was Prashant Tamang.
The show proposes that auditions for the fourth series took place in Ahmedabad, Amritsar, Bangalore, Delhi, Guwahati, Gwalior, Jaipur, Kolkata, Lucknow, Mumbai and Varanasi.
The judges for Indian Idol 4 are Anu Mallik, Javed Akthar, Kailash Kher and Sonali Bendre.
Sourabhee Debbarma of Tripura is the winner of Indian Idol 4. She is the first female to win the Indian Idol.
